Each chapter of NHS is governed as per the NHS Constitution and Handbook. Local chapters are under the direction of the Principal who appoints a five-member faculty council and adviser to oversee all chapter activities including the selection process. The guidelines for the selection process are outlined in detail in the NHS Handbook. The details of the selection process for each chapter are determined by the faculty council, approved by the principal and included in the CEHS Chapter ByLaws (below). The adviser and faculty council oversee the selection process along with any discipline issues for members. The principal's role is to select the adviser and council members and insure that the chapter operates as per the national organization guidelines.
